This work is based on my repeated conversations with people living with Parkinson’s disease. In many countries, table tennis is regarded as an activity that can help improve certain motor impairments, strengthen muscles, and enhance hand–eye coordination. Based on these observations, I began to rethink the mechanics of table tennis: is it possible to reimagine a “match” as a form of “cooperation”?

In this installation, I set up a system of elastic straps that connect two participants’ bodies, so their movements pull on and influence each other, like celestial bodies moving along shared orbits. During the continuous and rhythmic back-and-forth of hitting the ball, both participants must constantly adjust and respond to each other’s actions. This sustained movement echoes the bodily experience of people with Parkinson’s disease, who must keep their bodies in motion in order to resist the gradual decline of physical function.
